College Credit Plus Presentation 2016
November 1, 2016
This letter is to provide information about College Credit Plus (CCP). CCP is a program that allows students grade 7-12 to earn college credit before graduating high school. Students will take college credit courses, at the college campus, at the high school campus, or on-line. To participate in CCP, students must meet all entry requirements and timelines for the college/university they wish to attend. Southern Local Jr/Sr High Schools works closely with Kent State University campuses in East Liverpool and Salem, as well as Eastern Gateway Community College to provide CCP opportunities for our students.
Please note the Ohio Department of Education REQUIRES all students and their parents/guardians to attend an information night, EVEN if the student already participates in the program. I cannot stress enough that this is a requirement. Kent State, East Liverpool, will be hosting an information night Thursday, December 8th at 6:00PM. Eastern Gateway will be present. If you have a conflict, I will be available during Parent/Teacher Conferences on February 16th to discuss the program. No child will be permitted to participate in the CCP program without attending the information night on 12/8/16 or meeting with me at a scheduled appointment on 2/16/17. This is a state requirement; not one set by the universities or the high schools.
You will receive the ‘Letter of Intent’ at the information session that must be completed and returned by April 1, 2017 – no late forms can be accepted. I suggest the form be completed and returned as soon as possible. This is indicating interest to participate in the CCP program, not an absolute obligation to do so. No one can participate without this letter, but the student may decline after submitting the letter. All new and returning students planning on participating in the program must have a ‘Letter of Intent’ on file annually.
All students planning to participate in the CCP program must take the ACT no later that the Feb 11th date (registration deadline is Jan. 13th). See enclosed flyer on web site information. In lieu of the ACT, Kent and Eastern Gateway have assessments for admission into the program.
Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns with the program 330-679-2305 ext 4012.
